final report 19th May 2006 ...
Last night saw the conclusion of the competitions with the final
of the singles between Andy Seymour and Steven Miles. The match
was over 7 frames and produced some excellent snooker with Andy
coming out on top by 4 frames to 1.
Andy set the scene in the first frame when on his second visit
to the table made an excellent break of 64 to take the frame.
Steven fought back hard in frame 2 and although there were no
big brakes, Steven won a gritty frame to level the match.
Frame 3 was a tough frame, each player getting into the balls
but unable to make the breakthrough but Andy managed to get the
odd 15 and 20 points to pull away and win the frame to lead by
2 frames to 1.
Andy fought hard in frame 4 with a 40 break and didn’t
really allow Steven to get amongst the balls to lead by 3-1.
Frame 5 saw Andy in control keep Steven off the table with breaks
of 50 to win the frame and the match 4 to 1.
Frame scores: Andy scores first: Frame 1: 82 – 6: (Andy
64 break): Frame 2: 38-59: Frame 3: 64-26: Frame 4: 82-19 (Andy
40 break): frame 5: 91-11 (Andy 50 break)
Well done to both players and special congratulations to Andy
for not only the singles win but of course being part of the winning
double final with James Hearn.
A fine conclusion to another good year for the club!
